Bio

First and foremost, thank you for your interest and enjoyment of my photography. I am eternally grateful for any appreciation and acknowledgment of my subjects and the work they inhabit.
As a portrait and commercial photographer in Brooklyn, NY, I've been blessed to travel around the world creating imagery. Incredibly, this includes circumnavigating the globe by ship. Twice.
I have a passion for people. I connect through photography and use it as a vehicle to get to know the movers, shakers, and creators. I welcome my audience to stare at the people in my photos. I present simple stories, stripped of pretense. My preference is for black and white - free from distractions. I want the viewer and the subject to connect without meeting. You may not know all the people in my photos, but believe me, they are contributing to the world around them and affecting the lives of many. A different form of celebrity. Often these people of impact are recognized later in life, if not past their lives. My photos stand as testimony to their efforts. A time capsule of their gifts to humanity and the greater good.
If you notice a different quality in many of my black and white images, it's because they are actually platinum prints. I came from a background of shooting large format cameras with film. Creating a print in the darkroom is where the magic happened for me. Ansel Adams likened it to orchestral music, saying, "The negative is the score. The print is the performance." Platinum printing makes me feel connected to a tangible image. People’s reaction to seeing these large 11x14 inch prints in person is precious.
My current side hustle is co-hosting, co-curating, and co-producing the Do Lectures USA with my wife. Founded in Wales, The Do Lectures was originally created by Clare and David Hieatt, founders of Hiut Denim. The idea is a simple one: To gather together the world’s DOers, disruptors, change-makers, experts, and pioneers, to share their stories and encourage others to go and DO. I am excited to pick up the torch and make it more accessible to an American audience. This is my opportunity to serve the 'WE', not the 'ME'.
This brings me to the most important passion project there is, my family. Time is our most valuable asset. My priority is my son and my wife and our extended family and friends. It's important to put a photography career in perspective. I'm doing this by dividing my time more equitably between family, the DO Lectures, and photography. Time to find balance...
